pronk

PRONK

A stiff-legged vertical leap performed by springbok and some other antelope — the animal springs straight up with an arched back, legs rigid, all four hooves leaving the ground at once, sometimes reaching two meters. A white dorsal crest fans open during the jump. The behavior may signal fitness to predators, or it may simply feel good. Nobody is certain.
Etymology
Afrikaans: pronk (to show off, to make a display), from Dutch pronken (to strut, to show off). The springbok was once called the pronk-bok — the showing-off goat.
