Rock the Shack: The Architecture of Cabins, Cocoons and Hide-Outs

Gestalten·Gestalten·2013·240 pages
Read

The one that started the small-cabin publishing run. Huts, shelters, and retreats from the last couple of decades, plus a handful of older icons, arranged for browsing — forest cabins on stilts, mountain refuges, a sauna at the end of a dock, buildings that are basically one room and a view. Photographs dominate and the texts are short. Its real service is showing how many ways you can do a small building well, and how much of the effect comes from where it sits rather than what it cost.
