Hi, I’m Stephen Casimiro. I’m trying to make the list of what I’ve done longer than the list of what I want to do.
I will probably fail, but not for lack of trying.
As for the CV stuff, I was the editor of Powder magazine for a decade and West Coast Editor of National Geographic Adventure for another decade. I founded Bike magazine. I founded, own, and edit Adventure Journal. I taught photography for National Geographic Expeditions, am technically a photographer for Getty Images (though the stock photography business is dead). Most recently, I earned my California naturalist certification.
None of that is as interesting as the people, topography, and parts of the cultural landscape that catch my fancy. “Field Notes from a Very Cool World” describes what I’m doing here better than anything, but if you want a kicker to go with it (and what editor doesn’t?), let’s try “Exploring in search of enchantment, delight, and discovery.”
This isn’t a publication. It isn’t a blog. It’s a commonplace book, atlas, journal, pinboard, bookshelf, and collection of words that expands my sense of place, designed to be shared.
