Campanario is the Seattle Times artist who started the Urban Sketchers blog in 2007 and turned it into a worldwide network, and this 2012 book is the movement’s first big showcase. More than a hundred sketchers from thirty-odd countries, work grouped by continent and city, each artist explaining their tools and how they work on location. Some of it is tight architectural ink, some is loose watercolor done standing in the rain. He lays out the group’s manifesto too — draw on location, indoors or out, from direct observation, tell the story of your surroundings, and share it.
