Yunkaporta is an Apalech man from far north Queensland and an academic, and the book asks what Indigenous thinking has to say about global systems — not as culture but as method. Each chapter starts with a symbol he carves or draws, and the argument runs through pattern, kinship, sustainability, story, and violence. He’s hard on the way the academy handles Aboriginal knowledge, funny about his own contradictions, and the central claim is that most of the world’s problems come from thinking in straight lines and hierarchies rather than in networks and relationships.
