Hurricane Blonde

On My Shelf, Not Yet Read

Salma Lowe gives celebrity death tours in Los Angeles — a van, a script, the houses where famous people died — and one of the stops is her own sister’s, a movie star found dead in 1975 at twenty-two. Then she finds a body in that house on a tour, posed the same way, and the case nobody would reopen becomes something she has to work herself. Sutton runs the old Hollywood machinery alongside the present: A studio system built on chewing up young women, a family that made its money inside it, and a sister who was never allowed to be a person.
