Into the Wild

Chris McCandless graduated from Emory, gave his savings to charity, abandoned his car, burned his cash, and spent two years drifting the West under the name Alexander Supertramp before walking into the bush north of Denali in April 1992. He died in an abandoned bus about twenty miles in. Krakauer reconstructs the two years from the people who picked him up and grew fond of him, works through what actually killed him, and puts his own reckless young self on the page alongside. The bus was airlifted out in 2020 after too many people got in trouble trying to reach it.
