Less a how-to than a survey of where the movement went. Urban Sketchers started as a Flickr group in 2007 and turned into a global thing with chapters in hundreds of cities, and Bower gathers work from sketchers across those chapters — different countries, tools, and approaches, from tight ink-and-wash architecture to loose gouache to iPad drawings. Each artist gets space to say how they work and why. What comes through is how differently people solve the same problem of a street with too much in it, and that the community part, going out and drawing with strangers, is most of the appeal.
